What a great idea that has been around for a while . They should have always had these on public restrooms regardless of corona virus. I can’t wait to try it.
Fortunately, this door also has a motorized option.

Definitely nice to have the option!

These are on some bathroom doors where I work, and were there for at least a year before COVID.

Please make another oppo post when you have a review for us, as someone in the northeast who’s seen more than a few of these I’m eager to compare notes

I’ve spec’d and ordered these for projects but never actually used them myself. I believe the last set I ordered was actually the same Step N’ Pull brand as the one in your photo, but it came in a really nice black oxide finish .

I've been to a couple places that have those, it's very smart and I think should be much more common

uhhh.....whats wro ng with automized pulls?
i mean shit.... you could even tell it to flush when no ones in it and it would still work
this seems like a kmanagement decicision

oh..sorry...i did not realize it was to open the door
fuck me anagement sucks

I used to work at a place that had one that you used your forearm for. It was a high traffic National Park so it was very much welcome... even in the pre-COVID days.

I will do my best!

That’s what I said, not a new invention. Nice to see them gaining wider use though. I still would rather see electric doors instead of I had to choose, but good to have both.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:25 |

Nice that you can customize finish. Wonder if there is a chrome option.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:26 |

What exactly do you mean by automized pulls before I respond? I don’t want to be talking about something different than what you mean.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:27 |
|
That’s a good idea. I could use that much more easily, and I would. Otherwise, I default to using a paper towel to grab the handle.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:27 |
|
I’ve also started seeing arm pulls of various designs.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:27 |
|
For sure, but I personally would like the forearm pull version if not full on electric.

Oh, okay.

Yes, d efinitely would be nice to have the option! ;)

Lawsuit!
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:29 |

Yeah, a couple of people mentioned those. I haven’t seen them in person, but if they don’t install electric openers, these would be my next preferred option.

I know a few blokes who would be tripping over themselves trying to use this - especially when someone is also opening it from the inside at the same time . Personally, I usually went the shoulder charge route when I was in an office. These days, there’s always a handy tree.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:31 |

Oddly enough, these got added to all bathroom doors at my work a month before Covid was a known thing...
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:31 |
|
This is to pull in toward you, not push, so I could see someone balancing on one foot about to use it when someone from outside pushes in and knocks them over. That would be tragifunny.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:31 |
|
Good! We all know how seldom men wash their hands.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:37 |
|
In all...this strikes me as a solution that both adds and transforms risk in the problem of hygienic door opening rather taking it away...
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:46 |

I’ve been in office buildings that had those. I found it awkward to use with well-worn office shoes .
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:48 |
|
I’ve noticed more of them around now, I am a fan of anything that means I get to touch less surfaces inside of and on my way in/out of a public restroom. Some of them may have been there before without my noticing, but stores could be calling more attention to them by adding those brightly printed instruction decals to the doors.
Also, places that do require a hand to open the door need to go back to paper towels instead of hand dryers, so you don’t have to actually touch the thing. And restaurants need to stop putting the silverware directly on the table or counter that they’ve wiped off with a wet rag. Stick it on top of the damn napkin.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:52 |

These are the bomb, similarly they only recently arrives at my work but they really should be considered standard for any public restroom.

I guess I’ll have to gather data on that and report back.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 18:57 |

I could see that.

I thought the sink was to piss in?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 19:05 |

I may be uncoordinated, but I’m really not a fan of these. I’ll take my chances with the pull handle.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 19:08 |

Was this one newly installed?

I have both options at work on different doors (arm pull for the heavy glass front door and foot pull for the bathroom door). Can confirm there is an art to proper placement of your planted pivot foot so you don’t end up with a groin pull or a smack in the face. I can’t say how well it would work with smooth soled dress shoes or women’s shoes, but the foot grab works great with work boots. The arm pull not so much; half the time I see people grabbing it with their hand, or using the re gular door handle below it
![]() 10/27/2020 at 19:52 |

That reminds me. I was in a burger joint on the road a few weeks ago and the mens room had one of these. We should have had them all along. Foot flusher.

I work from a lab on a college campus usually, in non-Covid times. The number of guys who don’t wash after a nasty shit... ew
![]() 10/27/2020 at 20:09 |

A pupusa restaurant near me put those up on their front door. Very simple solution.

Glad it’s got the big button, too!
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:17 |

It’s also a good idea to turn off the faucet with a towel if the water isn’t touch less.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:18 |
|
Yes. Although the forearm ones are better for me.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:21 |

Dammit. I spent two nights in London once, and nobody warned me of this custom?
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:21 |

I have see. MDs do that. And DDSs.

RIP facw.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:23 |
|
Yep. Wasn’t there at lunch. Appeared by 4:00.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:26 |
|
I think the important thing is that I can use it with my forearm regardless so I don’t have to touch the pull. I think the foot pull probably does depend a lot on your shoes. I can’t imagine a gal in heels having to deal with it. But then again, they are adept at those things.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:28 |

Not a bad idea, but hands are already dirty from the rest of the business. Not sure this makes things that more hygienic.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:31 |
|
They installed that when I came to work there.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:34 |
|
Have seen these before. They are silly. Wash your hands or install automatic doors.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 22:39 |
|
This door also has an automatic button, because of me. Thing is, no one but me ever wants to push and wait for it. It does put a lot of resistance on the ballast because of it, and I wonder how hard it will be to pull with feet.
I think the idea is that it concedes that a large fraction of people won’t wash properly, and it allows a more hygienic choice for those who care. In a perfect world, everyone would wash properly, and this would be superfluous.
![]() 10/27/2020 at 23:10 |

Fuck all that. Just grab the handle and exit. Get a few germs on you’re hands. Build some immunities or die. Hell, in my day, the loos didn’t have doors. We pissed into a trough!
![]() 10/28/2020 at 00:19 |

i just meant the door would open itself
tho..thinking on it...thats maybe not such a great plan

My young children would have a field day with that. :P
![]() 10/28/2020 at 06:52 |

I installed one of these on the toilet paper dispenser at work.......

Ew.
![]() 10/28/2020 at 09:13 |

Not in this bathroom. There isn’t enough room. It would be open all the time.

Nice!
![]() 10/28/2020 at 09:18 |

Yup.
